Merry Christmas Darling

Oh. My. Gosh. I cannot believe that I actually made it this time on my 24 Days of Christmas postings. This is a big deal for me. I tried it before and fell down severely on the job. I am soooo glad that I accomplished my goal this time. And I am getting some ideas not just for next Christmas, but for blogging in general. I forgot how much I like doing this. I will talk a little bit more in a later blog toward the end of this year (read next week) about some things I was thinking of doing.

Ooooo speaking of things I am doing. I wane to the liquor store last night and boy howdy there are going to be a lot of "happy" people in Arlington, TX the next few days. I also did not know they had that many kinds of vodka (I am making my chocolate vodka cake - it is like rum cake, just switch ingredients and alcohols). I also did not know that they made pre-mixed jack and Diet Coke. I must go back to the liquor store especially when I have my own place again. Gotta get me some tequila and rum so I can have it on hand to cook with :) I promise that is what I keep it on hand for :) Some people have a wine rack, I have a hard liquor rack :) Well not really, but I will again :)

Okay today's installment on this the last day of the 24 Days of Christmas is Merry Christmas Darling by The Carpenters. It was written by Richard Carpenter and Frank Pooler and originally recorded in 1970 and was originally released as a single. It was reissued in 1974 and 1977. It went to number one three times - 1970, 1971 and 1973. It was re-done and put on their 1978 Christmas album Christmas Portrait.

Before I go on I want to see it is soooo sad about Karen Carpenter. Such a wonderful voice and great talent. Sad to see her life cut short from her struggles with anorexia.

Sorry for the quality. I like to find live recordings.

Greeting cards have all been sent
The Christmas rush is through
But I still have one wish to make
A special one for you

Merry Christmas darling
We're apart that's true
But I can dream and in my dreams
I'm Christmas-ing with you

Holidays are joyful
There's always something new
But every day's a holiday
When I'm near to you
The lights on my tree
I wish you could see
I wish it every day

Logs on the fire
Fill me with desire
To see you and to say
That I wish you Merry Christmas
Happy New Year, too
I've just one wish
On this Christmas Eve
I wish I were with you

Logs on the fire
Fill me with desire
To see you and to say
That I wish you Merry Christmas
Happy New Year, too
I've just one wish
On this Christmas Eve
I wish I were with you
I wish I were with you

(Merry, merry, merry Christmas
Merry Christmas - darling)
