Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Santa Claus better show up in Las Vegas and help Fresno State out. We are currently down by three touchdowns and my drink to get the Bulldogs to start winning is not helping (sorry Otys -I may have to quit so I do not go to sleep with the room spinning tonight). It is an inside thing between Miss Otys and I dating back to 2005. I kept rum, vodka and tequila on hand for cooking with and one of us would call the other (I think it was me) and I would be told to start drinking to get us to turn around and start winning. The last time we played SUC I went to sleep with the room spinning. I told her later that I was going to have to find some other method to get us to win or I was going to be in AA. We are still not winning and the bottle of wine is almost gone. On the bright side one of the SUC players got ejected from the game :)

Today's installment on the 24 Days of Christmas is Santa Claus is Coming to Town. was written by John Frederick Coots and Haven Gillespie. It was first sung in November 1934 on Eddie Cantor's radio show where it became an instant hit. There were orders for 100,000 copies of sheet music the next day and more than 400,000 copies sold by Christmas. It has been recorded by numerous recording artists over the years. After looking through several videos I decided that I liked the Celtic Woman version the best.

You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

He's making a list
He's checking it twice
He's gonna find out who's naughty or nice
Santa Claus is coming
Santa Claus is coming to town

You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows when you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake

Oh, you better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming
Santa Claus is coming to town

[Fiddle solo]

Little toy dolls that cuddle and coo
Elephants, boats, and kiddy cars, too
Santa Claus is coming to town

He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows when you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake

Oh, you better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming
Santa Claus is coming to town

[Fiddle solo]

He's making a list
Checking it twice
Gonna find out who's naughty or nice
Santa Claus is coming
Santa Claus is coming
Santa Claus is coming to town

Oh, you better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming
Santa Claus is coming
Santa Claus is coming to town
To town.
