White Christmas

Okay if you live in North Texas and anywhere that is getting hit by Icemaggedon 2013 you know this probably had to come. Or maybe not,. I decided this was good for today. Let me see. Before I put up today's installment, I landed the job I interviewed for yesterday. Not sure when it will start, but I am VERY happy. I am praying for a January 7th start day (when they are back in school). It also took me 3 hours to get back home last night. The 635 was a parking lot as well as 161 which was apparently better than Loop 12 south bound because apparently there were some accidents there. I was glad that I was not on the 121 - they had a 15 car pile up (glad I was not in it either). I did see emergency lights while I was still on 161 and thought it did not bode well and that I was going to be spending the night in my car. As I was making my way past the off ramp for 183 that is where the fire trucks and police cars were and it had just got shut down. Traffic cleared up just past that and then I got myself back into the granny lane (or I was in the granny lane already). Anyway, I ended up having to take an exit because I could not get over in time to prevent myself from having to take it. When I got to the end of the off ramp I was happy to see that it was Carrier Parkway and went the way I thought I needed to go, I called my friends Jim and Benji to update them on my location and debated with myself while on the phone with Jim if I was going the right way. I decided that I was and actually was happy to see that I was going the right way. I was happy when I made it to Pioneer Parkway and when I hit Arlington. Including the pit stop at Kroger for ice cream, toilet paper. Chili Cheese Wheat Thins, and Ranch with Bacon Dressing - it took me 3 hours to get home. This morning was adventurous. I got up at 2:30 am to use the bathroom and saw it was white outside. At 4 am the power went off and then back on. It did it a total of 7 times between 4 am and 6 am and stayed out from 6 am until after 10 am. I was VERY happy for it to come back on. I had to go to the bathroom by flashlight a couple of times.

So today's song is White Christmas. It was written by Irving Berlin, but it is not sure as to when or where he wrote it. The first public performance of the song was by Bing Crosby on December 25, 1941 for his NBC radio show The Kraft Music Hall. In 1942 he recorded it as part of an album of songs from the movie Holiday Inn. At first the song did not not very well, but by the end of October 1942 it made it to the top of Your Hit Parade. The Bing Crosby version of the song has sold over 50 million copies worldwide. It has been recorded by numerous musicians over the years. I decided to bring to you the Martina McBride version.

'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
And may all your Christmases be white
