Happy December 1st everyone!! 24 more days until Christmas woot! I have decided I am going to do something fun from now to December 25th. Since I am a musician and I LOVE music and performing (no I am NOT performing for you lol - I want you all to come back every day to see what I put up) I have decided to put up a video each day of a Christmas song. It will get you not only in the spirit (and help me to not be depressed that I have been unemployed for 7 months now and may once again not be able to go spend Christmas with my family), but also to help you reflect on the reason for the season - the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
So today's song with a video is......Mariah Carey singing Joy to the World. I LOVE Mariah Carey. Let's face it, the girl can sing. Loved her album she did that had BOYZ II Men on it (One Sweet Day). So enjoy and sing along!! Instead of just having the video with her singing on here, I thought that I would throw in some music history for you :) (blame it on the teacher in me lol) and then I shall include the lyrics for this version that Mariah does so you can sing with her :)

The words of Joy to the World were written in 1719 by Isaac Watts as a paraphrase of Psalm 98. It was published in Psalms of David: Imitated in the language of the New Testament, and applied to the Christian state and worship He wrote the words as a hymn glorifying Christ's return at the end of the age instead of as a Christmas song. In 1839 Lowell Mason took the words and adapted and arranged it to music from an older melody that was believed to have originated from Handel.
Mariah Carey's version of Joy to the World is off her album Merry Christmas which came out on November 1, 1994.
