You Have My Attention

You ever get the feeling that God is clearly trying to tell you something? I have that going on right now and He has my full and undivided attention. There is a huge chance that my landlord is getting ready to be foreclosed upon. How do I know? Umm her mortgage company that she has the loan with left a note taped to the front door on November 2nd. When I called her and told her about it she said she is trying to do a loan modification and had not paid the mortgage for three months straight. Then Monday night there were two things from a law firm that showed up in the mail and hey something that is also from the same law firm that is at the post office that was sent via certified mail. So let me see I am jobless in Texas and about ready to be homeless. God you have my full and undivided attention. 2011 is going to be an exciting yet adventurous year. I will keep you posted.

Today's song on the 24 Days of Christmas on The Great Faith Adventure is The First Noel. The video that you will get to enjoy is David Archuleta singing it. He is really awesome and has a lot of talent for such a young guy!! I will have to get myself one of his albums :)

Many of the Christmas carols we sing today started off as hymns. The First Noel was actually a folk song. It is among the oldest of carols and dates back at least 500 years. It was not written down and published until the 1800s. It is believed that the song originated in England, but it has been attributed to both England and France (noel fits easily into both languages). It was reportedly sung each year by English peasants as they lit the Yule log. Because the early church looked down on peasant songs, it was not used in church services during the first several hundred years of its existence. It was was published in the mid-1800s and the Church of England began using it in Christmas services.

The First Noel, the Angels did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the East beyond them far
And to the earth it gave great light
And so it continued both day and night.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

And by the light of that same star
Three Wise men came from country far
To seek for a King was their intent
And to follow the star wherever it went.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

This star drew nigh to the northwest
O'er Bethlehem it took its rest
And there it did both Pause and stay
Right o'er the place where Jesus lay.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

Then entered in those Wise men three
Full reverently upon their knee
And offered there in His presence
Their gold and myrrh and frankincense.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

Then let us all with one accord
Sing praises to our heavenly Lord
That hath made Heaven and earth of nought
And with his blood mankind has bought.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
