Silver Bells

I have this one friend on facebook (really think they need to change it from friends to something else) that I went to high school with who was a year ahead of me. He and a few others are relentless when it comes to certain things that I have posted on my status, In addition this one in particular keeps telling me that I should have kept my job with an airline that I worked for that 1. I hated and 1. Was not going to be making enough money to buy a decent car any time soon. And he says I am a moron for quitting my job with the airline and buying a car that he says I cannot afford. Of course he says other things too and apparently thinks my life is a train wreck waiting to happen. Sometime he gets to me and at other times I am like look how can you say those things. Even when I try to explain he just wants to keep on with his view. It is infuriating. I think I could land a great job that I end up retiring from and he would still be saying these things.

Okay enough of my soap box. Today's installment on the 24 Days of Christmas is Silver Bells. The only thing that I can find about the song is that it was written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans. It was first performed by Bob Hope and Marilyn Maxwell in the movie The Lemon Drop Kid that was filmed during July-August 1950 and released in March 1952.

After looking through a couple of videos (and deciding that I need a new computer keyboard), I have decided to go with the Vince Gill and Amy Grant one.

Silver bells silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring a ling, hear them sing
Soon it will be Christmas day

City sidewalks busy sidewalks .
Dressed in holiday style
In the air
There's a feeling
of Christmas
Children laughing
People passing
Meeting smile after smile
And on every street corner you'll hear

Silver bells silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring a ling, hear them ring
Soon it will be Christmas day

Strings of street lights
Even stop lights
Blink a bright red and green
As the shoppers rush
home with their treasures

Hear the snow crunch
See the kids bunch
This is Santa's big scene
And above all this bustle
You'll hear
Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them ring
Soon it will be Christmas day

One of my favorite Christmas songs! Love Vince Gill and Amy Grant. Thanks for sharing.
