Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)
A quick update on how I am doing on my weight loss. I am down to 274. 21 pounds lost since I started weighing myself on January 10th, 114 pounds from my goal weight. I would love to be there by the end of this year, but will be happy to get under 200 pounds. I look forward to when I need to buy new clothing :)
Okay now for more of what is on my mind. I applied for an apartment and was approved. I am happy about that, however there have been several people that have been very vocal about me not moving. Everything ranging from I should have three months of savings (I asked the person that told me that if she had three months of savings and she said not in cash - it was in an IRA. Okay then don't tell me that if you do not have that yourself) to you do not know where your next job will be. It could be in Weatherford (I have not found anything in Weatherford so ha!). I have been praying about it and asking God if He does not want me to move to please do something. Well in true God fashion He does not do something, He has me pay attention to the lyrics of a song that has been sung in church before, but I never really paid attention. I started thinking about them in relation to my situation, I also thought about something that Angie Smith wrote in one of the chapters of her book Mended. It is the chapter entitled Ransomed. She said if we believe in Jesus we know what it feels like to completely trust in the One who holds us high above the discernible ground. She said that life is not always easy and not always perfect. It is entirely possible that we will fall headfirst into the ache of this life. But we will never know unless we jump.
In thinking about the song by Hillsong United called Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) which was the song that I believe God had me pay attention to the lyrics to, I think about how moving into an apartment when life is not all planned out is a bit like me walking out onto the waters of the ocean. Where it is unknown. I do not know what lies ahead (none of us do). But we can be assured (and I can be assured in my situation of moving back into my own place) that God will be with me. My faith will stand (it might be tested, but it will stand). God will guide me and keep me because I am His. He is mine. It is scary out there (I have been in that place before). I remember what it was like after I was evicted and realized I still had no place to move to. I had a job, but no place to move to. I was trying to hang on for a job. You cannot hang on to a job. A job is fleeting, but God is not. I had to let go and hang on to God. And when I did that He went before me and made a way. It was a little rough in the beginning, but He got me back to where I needed to be.
I will trust Him in this too. I will walk on the waters where there is no borders so that my faith can be made stronger. I am sure there will be times I am driven to my knees, but so be it. I grow in the unfamiliar unsafe surroundings when everything is not lined up perfectly.
Here is a question, if we are to have faith as Christians, if the center point of our Christianity is belief in a risen Savior then why don't more of us live by faith and step out in faith? How do you grow in your faith if you just play it safe all the time and have everything planned out?
I have a video of Hillsong United performing Oceans (Where Feet May Fail). Listen to it and the lyrics and think and ponder about faith and the unknown.
You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand
And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed and You won't start now
So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
[6x]
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
I will call upon Your name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand
And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed and You won't start now
So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
[6x]
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
I will call upon Your name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine
