Victory In Jesus

Today's song is Victory In Jesus. Go pull out the Baptist Hymnal a Nazarene hymnal or whatever denomination you might be (or go buy a Baptist Hymnal at Lifeway) and sing along. They sang it on one of the Gaither videos and Cynthia Clawson, Mike Allen, and Joy Gardner were featured on part of the song. If that does not get your feet a tapping then you better check your pulse.

Yesterday (August 6th) everyone and their grandmother decided to either be born or get married. Seriously - my sister turned 19+19, my friends Staci and Mark from high school had their birthdays, my Tau Beta Sigma big sister Joan also turned 19+19 - yeah that was cool and weird all at the same time when I learned as a pledge that my real life younger sister and my Tau Beta Sigma big sister were both born the exact same day and year - and my friend/Kappa Kappa Psi brother also had a birthday (think I will revive the pot holders for his birthday tradition lol). And then to top it off my cousin Linda and her husband Kelly were married on August 6, 1983. Their wedding picture is soooo cute and very much the 80's lol. So yeah I had ice cream twice yesterday for everyone :)

So I got an e-mail back from my friend Andrew who I went to college with at California Baptist University (he was an undergrad when I was a grad student). He plays guitar in Switchfoot. He said I could get backstage passes - not tickets (I don't think I could get tickets - the show is sold out - maybe I will listen to the Edge to see if they are giving away tickets lol). Soooo I will get to see the band which means I can get my poster autographed. I kind of asked for 5 passes - got some people that want to go with me. I referred to them as my cousins lol Hey this is Texas - people start getting related to everyone. And the way my mom has been going with the family history research I may be related lol She keeps finding people we're related to - seems like I am related to half of Texas. Just so long as I am not related to a certain piano player in a certain Christian music group that is fine with me :-)

So I am praying more specifically now for the job and for the other thing. I hate that when you are praying - not when in the midst of prayer but during other times - things will creep in and you are like o....kay... I did not know that was there. But thank you Jesus that I can rely on You to help me get through this, overcome this and make it through so I can keep praying for those two things. I want to be the woman of God that He has made me to be. I know that at times the refining process will be painful and I do thank God for showing me something that was not right that inside of me so that way He can deal with that area in my life. It makes me love my God even more.

Added bonus - video will be below the lyrics :)
_____________________________________________________________________________________
I heard an old, old story,
How a Savior came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary
To save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning,
Of His precious blood's atoning,
Then I repented of my sins
And won the victory.

Chorus
O victory in Jesus,
My Savior, forever.
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about His healing,
Of His cleansing pow'r revealing.
How He made the lame to walk again
And caused the blind to see;
And then I cried, "Dear Jesus,
Come and heal my broken spirit,"
And somehow Jesus came and bro't
To me the victory.

Chorus
O victory in Jesus,
My Savior, forever.
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about a mansion
He has built for me in glory.
And I heard about the streets of gold
Beyond the crystal sea;
About the angels singing,
And the old redemption story,
And some sweet day I'll sing up there
The song of victory.

Chorus
O victory in Jesus,
My Savior, forever.
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.
