 God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

Okay I have to step on my soap box for a bit before I go on with today's song. I am not exactly sure when I will be getting my first check from this new permanent sub job. I am praying that it will be this month and not January 24th. That is because I have a car payment, car insurance, cell phone and U Verse bills to pay along with being able to get gas to drive 70 miles around trip a day. Or more depending on which route I go home. In Philippians it talks about God will richly supply all your needs. These are needs that I have yet I have people telling me to stop treating God like a Santa Claus and to be grateful for once. Oh my gosh! I would like to know then what they see as God richly supplying all your needs. And what about praying and asking God to help you with your needs? Rather than telling someone to go out and hustle up work and get a second job (which I like how quickly they think one can land a second job) near their work place. That just gets me home even later and it already takes me 2 hours to get back from work. I personally know multiple people who did not know how they were going to get things paid and they prayed about it and God provided. I am tired of people telling me how to do my walk with God and how to have faith. So I am going to do a few things here: pray, trust God, seek His direction, apply for other jobs that are closer to home and pay quicker, and obey. If God wants me to keep this job He will help me to be able to get to and from work and I will not have to be running myself ragged and try to scramble to find work. I need to be able to have time to spend with MY God. I need to be able to sit and read in my Bible and pray and listen to His voice. You gotta be still before God so you can hear Him.That is hard to do when you are running around all over the place. ****Steps off soap box****

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen is a traditional English carol that is written in a minor key. No one knows who wrote it, but it was published by William B.Sandys in 1833. I chose the Annie Lennox video because she sounds nice and minor.

God rest ye merry, gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember, Christ, our Saviour
Was born on Christmas day
To save us all from Satan's power
When we were gone astray
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy

In Bethlehem, in Israel,
This blessed Babe was born
And laid within a manger
Upon this blessed morn
The which His Mother Mary
Did nothing take in scorn
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy

From God our Heavenly Father
A blessed Angel came;
And unto certain Shepherds
Brought tidings of the same:
How that in Bethlehem was born
The Son of God by Name.
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy

"Fear not then," said the Angel,
"Let nothing you affright,
This day is born a Saviour
Of a pure Virgin bright,
To free all those who trust in Him
From Satan's power and might."
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy

The shepherds at those tidings
Rejoiced much in mind,
And left their flocks a-feeding
In tempest, storm and wind:
And went to Bethlehem straightway
The Son of God to find.
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy

And when they came to Bethlehem
Where our dear Saviour lay,
They found Him in a manger,
Where oxen feed on hay;
His Mother Mary kneeling down,
Unto the Lord did pray.
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy

Now to the Lord sing praises,
All you within this place,
And with true love and brotherhood
Each other now embrace;
This holy tide of Christmas
All other doth deface.
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
