Sleigh Ride

Church was great today! I love that God planted the seed for me to end up at Fielder Road Baptist Church (or Fielder Church as we are now called). It is a people church. By people church I mean that I have not met a stranger there. It is home and I am being reminded that this is exactly where I need to be for church. I have made some wonderful friends and even though it was hard for me when I was told there was not enough room for me in the orchestra, I have found a new place to minister in and that is in the Media Ministry where I work upstairs running Pro Presenter (or promoting as I like to call it) every other week. And also helping to run the baptism camera. The people I work with are super nice and I am having fun getting to know who everyone is. In 2014 I am going to make it a point to find myself a small group and get myself plugged in. I miss being in one and I feel God is leading me to be back in one. Just not sure if it will be on campus or off campus (may be on campus).

Today's installment on the 24 Days of Christmas is Sleigh Ride. The music was written by Leroy Anderson in 1948 (he got the idea for it in July 1946 during a heat wave. It was first recorded in 1949 by Arthur Fielder and the Boston Pops. The lyrics came along in 1950.ASCAP says that Sleigh Ride ranks in the top 10 of most performed songs.

You will like the video I found.. I went through a few of them and decided I liked the Brad Paisley/Brian Setzer Orchestra version. Yes jazz meets country. Sweet!

ust hear those sleigh bells jingle-ing
Ring ting tingle-ing too
Come on, it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you

Outside the snow is falling and friends are calling "Yoo hoo"
Come on, it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you

Our cheeks are nice and rosy and comfy cozy are we
We're snuggled up together like two birds of a feather would be
Let's take that road before us and sing a chorus or two
Come on, it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you

Just hear those sleigh bells jingle-ing
Ring ting tingle-ing too
Come on, it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you

Outside the snow is falling and friends are calling "Yoo hoo"
Come on, it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you
Sleigh ride with you
Sleigh ride with you...
