This Christmas

Today is a special day. It was on this day 23 years ago that my pledge class - the Zeta pledge class - for the Iota Alpha and Eta Omega chapters of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma at California State University, Fresno. December 3, 1990 a day that will live in infamy for the Zeta class. I played 52 pick up on that day. Yes I was that naive, but also eager to do whatever Tony "Squeeze" Luna one of the Zeta class pledge trainers wanted me to do because I had the big R for him and everyone else as well. The big R is RESPECT. So naturally when he asks if I want to play 52 pick up I say yes. Then he dropped a deck of cards on the floor and told me to pick them up. In the dorm room of my big sister Joan and her roommate Ann which was already messy enough as it was. I am just glad it was not 104 pick up.  Anyway, I digress. Happy birthday to my fellow Zetas! I think I will eat some cake later today!!

Today's song I listened to on the way to work. I know it has been done numerous times, but I like this version. It is Anthony Evans and I do not care if he did not make it all the way through, he did great on The Voice (and should have won, but do not get me started on that either). A little background on the song - it was written in 1970 by Donny Hathaway. It was released as a single that year and then used on his second album that came out in 1971. It has been recorded several times overt the years by numerous artists.

Here ya go. Sing along and have fun!

This Christmas

Hang all the mistletoe
I’m gonna get to know you better
This Christmas
And as we trim the tree
How much fun it’s gonna be together
This Christmas

Fireside is blazing bright
We’re caroling through the night
And this Christmas, will be
A very special Christmas, for me

Presents and cards are here
My world is filled with cheer and you
This Christmas
And as I look around
Your eyes outshine the town, they do
This Christmas

Fireside is blazing bright
We’re caroling through the night
And this Christmas, will be
A very special Christmas, for me

Fireside is blazing bright
We’re caroling through the night
And this Christmas, will be
A very special Christmas, for me
And this Christmas, will be
A very special Christmas, for me
