Winter Wonderland

Well I survived my first day. Signed my contract at the district office and then went over to the school. I found out some more information while signing my contract. I will be getting paid monthly now. Please say prayers for God's financial provisions - I am not for sure if I will be getting a check on the 24th of this month for 8 days of work. I am praying that I will. If not I will be selling lots of books to help tide me over - but I really hope I get one on the 24th of this month. I also found out that I will have a set monthly salary and that I will be paid through August. That is VERY nice. I know what I am doing this summer. Can we say get my next book out and go on a book tour? I do not care what Benji says. The breakfast buffet at the Embassy Suites is your meal allowance (inside joke we have going on).

Today's song is Winter Wonderland. It kind of still looks like that around here with remnants of ice on the ground still. The song was written in 1934 by Felix Bernard (music) and Richard B. Smith (lyrics). It has been recorded by over 150 musicians. It is believed that Richard Smith was inspired to write the lyrics after seeing Honesdale, Pennsylvania's Central Park covered with snow. It was orignially recorded by Richard Himber.

Okay you are in for a rather interesting version of this. I could not believe that they had actually done this. They were one of my favorite groups in high school (still are - hmmm think I might finally get somethinig of theirs on cd for the new year - that  will liven up my 35 mile drive to work). Okay are you ready? Stryper!! That's right Stryper live doing Winter Wonderland. Enjoy and have fun head banging. And yes you will see another one of their songs on the 24 Days of Christmas.

Sleigh bells ring
Are you listening
In the lane
Snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
We're happy tonight
Walking in a winter wonderland

Gone away, is the bluebird
Here to stay, is a new bird
He sings a love song,
As we stroll along
Walking in a winter wonderland

In the meadow we can build a snowman
And pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say Are you married
We'll say No Man
But you can do the job
When you're in town

Later on
We'll conspire
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid
The plans that we've made
Walking in a winter wonderland

In the meadow we can build a snowman
And pretend that he's a circus clown
We'll have lots of fun with mister snow man
Until the other kiddies knock him down!

When it snows
Ain't it thrilling
Though your nose gets a chilling
We'll frolic and play the Eskimo way
Walking in a winter wonderland

Walking in a winter wonderland
Walking in a winter wonderland
